Reflecting on the past, I remember a time when my days were filled with a sense of accomplishment and inner peace. From a clean house to well-tended nails, everything seemed to fall into place effortlessly. However, as life unfolded, I noticed a gradual shift away from prioritizing my own well-being.
As a woman of faith, a devoted wife, a mother to nearly six children, and a committed full-time realtor, my days are often a whirlwind of activity, including the roles of a dedicated basketball mom. Amidst this bustling life, I lost sight of the importance of self-care.
The realization struck me when I realized that I had stopped making time for myself. While I poured my energy into caring for others, I neglected to refill my own cup. Perhaps you can relate to this experience?
Thankfully, I’ve been fortunate to have strong, empowered women in my life who’ve reminded me of the vital necessity of prioritizing self-care. They’ve emphasized that by rejuvenating ourselves, we not only regain balance and peace but also become better equipped to nurture those around us.
If you’re feeling the weight of neglecting yourself, I encourage you to create a “Self To-Do List” for the week. Identify three achievable self-care goals and express them as already accomplished (e.g., “I am grateful for taking time to pamper my nails and feet”).
Remember, it’s important not to overwhelm yourself but to set realistic objectives that contribute to your well-being. By investing in self-love, we not only elevate our own lives but also invite others to love us more deeply.
Let’s break free from procrastination of self-care and embrace our best lives yet.
