Growing up, Winnie was a beautiful, light-skinned, lovely child, but the only problem she always encountered was different people questioning her colored look with long, beautiful hair. At first, Winnie ignored these queries until she was in Grade 12 and her school had parents meeting.
As the pupils sat down, waiting for their parents in class, a colored family entered the class. The duo went straight to the teacher’s table in the front, but Winnie’s eyes couldn’t move away from this lovely family because, strangely, she for once saw people who had a resemblance to her.
She tried to shy away from them by exiting the classroom and going to the toilets. Winnie was still waiting for her parents to also arrive for the parents’ meeting. While outside, she pondered about it. Could they be her biological parents? But how? Because she has parents, and they never told her any bizarre story.
When she got back in class, she went straight to her friend in class and shared the news with her. With so much curiosity, the friend looked at them carefully and yes, she saw what her friend meant. She saw a resemblance and now wanted to know the parent’s child in class.
Being a forward child, Selina stood up and faced the class, then asked the question. The quietest girl in class raised her hand. Selina glanced at her quickly and didn’t see any colored look in her. Kate was as Black as her, and that raised eyebrows. As shocked as she was, she went back to Winnie. ” My friend, it looks like we are in for a tight spot,” said Selina.
We need to dig deeper into this matter just to set you free. I too can see what you saw. We can’t approach Kate’s parents about this matter, but I first have to inform my parents about it. Later on, Winnie’s parents entered the classroom, and unfortunately, the Davis family left already.
After school, Winnie sat her parents down and opened a can of worms. They were both very shocked and told Winnie how much they never took it into consideration but only appreciated the beautiful and unique girl they gave birth to. Well though so Winnie’s mother insisted that they find the Davis family and do a DNA test.
Eventually, they did and indeed the tests proved that the girls had been switched after birth. Both families, together with their girls, found it hard to let go of the girls they knew and grew to love. Families took turns growing and healing the girls. Winnie and Kate became sisters that way. They enjoyed each other’s company and we’re gladly calling each other sister. The two families became very close since they were raising girls who became sisters.
