A Crying Shame

Nancy and Peter’s lives were forever changed when their parents succumbed to a fatal car accident, leaving them orphaned and alone. Forced to fend for themselves from a young age, they had to hustle to survive.

Their lives became a daily struggle, with Peter turning to gangsterism, theft, and mugging, while Nancy felt pressured into prostitution for quick financial gains. As they navigated the harsh realities of their situation, mischief and trouble became their norm.

Peter’s encounters with the law landed him in and out of prison, while Nancy faced exploitation and non-payment from clients. The community shunned them, rejecting their notorious behavior and the unwelcoming actions that came with it.

Without access to education, they dropped out of school, and their lives became a heartbreaking testament to the struggles of growing up too soon. The phrase “a crying shame” seemed to encapsulate their existence, a constant reminder of the difficult path they had been forced to take.
