Trees Supply Free Oxygen

Nature is the most generous giver to all living beings. In recent times, I’ve noticed that many trees along highways and roadsides have been chopped or heavily trimmed. Large branches have been lopped off, reducing the shade once offered by trees that stood for decades, and some even for 50 to 100 years.

To the observing eye, it may feel heavy on the heart. Yet, we must accept that the local authorities are carrying out their duties.

The crows and birds that once called these trees home, resting during the day or nesting at night, are unfortunately no longer there. Now, they perch on larger plants or atop electrical cables. It’s a struggle for them to find the comfort those towering trees once provided. But they have no choice. It will take time for them to adjust and find new resting places.

This act must be viewed from both sides. While other species have lost their homes and shade, there are also practical reasons behind the decision. As with many things, there are both advantages and disadvantages.

For pedestrians, the loss is clear: less shade during scorching heat or heavy rain. Many birds and small creatures have lost their precious habitats, and in some cases, their lives.

Yet from another perspective, there are safety benefits. Trees frequently struck by lightning can pose serious risks to pedestrians, vehicles, and nearby homes. Old trees that have lost their strength may fall unexpectedly, endangering lives. Removing them can prevent such accidents.

A thoughtful suggestion for the authorities would be to plant new trees beside those that were trimmed, especially if the old ones cannot regrow. These new trees, given time, will flourish and provide shade and shelter for future generations.

We must also recognize that trees play a vital role in absorbing lightning strikes, often protecting more vulnerable areas. In places lacking natural surroundings, we sometimes hear of unfortunate incidents that might have been avoided with more greenery.

Let us, as a community, take this seriously and act responsibly for a better future.

In life, there is often some good in every action. Adding something, like planting new trees, may not cause loss but instead bring benefits to all. Nature has always allowed us to make changes, but it is our duty to give back. Let us be wise and carry the understanding that nature is the foundation of life.

With unity of mind and a sense of divine connection, we can support one another and care for nature as it continues to care for us.

“Let us plant and breathe, reaching for the clouds.”
