Roger and Marie
Walked together every day so happily.
Then came the day to drift apart.
Marie was left alone with a broken heart.
Roger was on a certain path
But that never changed the memories they had.
Marie sort of lost her way.
She could no longer find her words to say
Time can make someone feel so lost.
You never know what may be the cost
When one loses all their strength
Because all they’ve ever known is hate,
It’s hard to find love and trust
In a world covered with layers of rust.
Marie sits upon a swing dangling from a tree
Wearing a white dress and no shoes on her feet.
She can’t run away from a controlling beast.
She is bound to the ground like dried-up autumn leaves.
Roger walks past her on a paved street.
He doesn’t notice how bad she wants to flee.
She’s not strong enough to scream out for help.
She needs a hero to send the beast to hell.
One day, the beast was distracted with a mistress in hand.
Marie took advantage of all the girls this creature had.
There was a brief moment, she found courage to run,
But the beast would never let her go; she was his one.
He chased her until he caught her again.
He planned to torture her and more pain did begin.
Roger never knew the consequence of his choice.
Ever since he left, Marie hasn’t felt safe.
One day, another man walked by and saw the look in her eyes.
He saw she held in a desperate cry.
He waited until this creature engaged himself in a feast:
Then this courageous man set fire to the beast.
He picked up Marie, a damsel so divine.
He helped her break free, no longer stuck in time.
Roger never saved her; he’d just walk past and stare.
This new courageous man made sure to be there.
Time can make someone feel so lost.
You never know what may be the cost
When one loses all their strength
Another may be stronger than the hate.
That’s the one to place your love and trust
To uncover your world under layers of rust.
