Love’s Confusion

In so many ways

I’ve been smitten,

I’ve been felled by beauty

In beauty I’m reborn

I’m amazed yet crippled

Like venom, it spreads

A venom like this, I can’t escape

In my heart, I’m paralyzed.

In my head

Many reasons swim by,

They talk about love

They spoke of dreams untouched

All my senses I’ve lost

All my life, I’ve been drowning

But if love is this addictive

Who needs hate

Help me breathe

Let my heart be free.

Over and over again, I’ve searched

I searched for truth amidst lies,

The truth painted in white

Lies painted black

Love is truth

Hate begets lies

Which way is true

My heart is conflicted

Crossroads are all I see

Where do I go

Where am I supposed to be

Love, please guide me.
