Today I sent a short note to heaven,
To my grandma beyond those skies.
I told her how I miss her nighttime stories,
And those wrinkles around her eyes.
First, I tried looking on the porch,
To see if she still sat in her chair.
But I thought I again heard the wail of her popowlee,
Then I knew she wasn’t there.
Grandma, when you receive this note,
Read it with a smile, for I’m okay.
I still visit our little garden,
And water the sunflowers every day.
Since the day you grew wings to fly,
I can’t say life has really been bad.
But if one day you hear that I’m on my way,
Prepare a place by your side for me to stay.
