Before you go, Richelieu,
Take a part of me with you.
So I will be there by your side,
In all that you will do.
Before you go, Richelieu, my friend,
Let me hug you for one last time,
For I want your scent to remind me,
Whenever I’m reciting our nursery rhymes.
Before you go, Richelieu,
Let me write you a poem.
One that will keep you company,
Along the way, as you journey home, my friend.
Before you go, Richelieu,
I want you to make me a promise.
That you will come to heaven’s gates and wait for me,
The day you hear of my demise.
And when we meet again that day,
We are going to sing and dance,
To our childhood rhymes, word for word;
And finally, take our seats in the bosom of our Lord.
