Branched Wings

The sky kicked a bird out today,

Abandoned as old, he dropped like rain.

Four branches prepared to house him;

Their extended arms sheltered his orange wings safely.

Wind caused him to rattle with leaves that found him.

Their branches hugged the orange in a compact space.

Vines clothed his body, like a gown.

Thunder struck a falling branch. BANG!

He was freed.

An escape he dreamed of, he flew for days.

Morning caught him arguing with the tree.

Little did it know, he threw himself out of the sky.
