A Light Still Not Seen

Ah history

Your books are open,

On every page, I read about beauty

Beauty born from struggle

Some made truths known

Some made death their God

But through these pages

I wish to be seen.

From the first man

To the current situation,

My thoughts wish to be read

They have more to give

More than words, I’ll give

More than stories I’ll write

They gave me purpose

Oh, history, you are my goal.

Through words, I’ve been reborn

Through events, I’ve been seen

My name is but a light

A light still not seen

My voice is a beacon

A beacon hidden under hills

Why do I lose great mentors

My tongue, I ask you why

In love, I’m unlucky

In words, I’m shortchanged

So, when will I be seen in history

Am I supposed to be forgotten

My existence needs to be known

Ah, history, your pages call to me.

Throughout my life, I have had many friends

But now, they scatter like flies,

To be true, I help when I can

My knowledge I need to impart

My skills I need to sharpen

My voice, I need to train

Listen, you old bones

My spirit needs more strength

My flesh needs less

Ah, history, these are words I see

From your pages saints are born

Saints, I aim to follow

History, awaken my heart.
