My Love Letter To: Discovering I Am A Charlotte (SATC)

,

I’m a firm believer that Sex And The City finds everyone when it’s supposed to find you. For me, that was my early 20s. I used to overlook Charlotte, trying to convince myself I was a Carrie through and through, but after a few years and constant rewatches later, I discovered that I am a Charlotte, and I’m very much proud of that fact.

I mean, there are a lot of reasons to love Charlotte York. She’s a little more naive than the other girls, but that’s kind of the point.

She is also so strong, soft, hopeful, and romantic—but strong enough to stay that way in a world that constantly tries to harden her.

She’s deeply supportive and empathetic—the kind of friend who truly feels things with you, not just for you.

She has this charismatic youth about her. There’s a quiet ambition in her goals (love, family, stability

She’s an eternal optimist, yes—but she’s also the girl who says, ‘I’ve been dating since I was fifteen… I’m exhausted. Where is he?’ and then admits, ‘my hair hurts.’ That’s the balance—hope that hasn’t disappeared, just… sat down for a second

Across six seasons and two movies, Charlotte York proves that softness isn’t something you grow out of—it’s something you grow into

And maybe that’s why she stays with you—because she reminds you that wanting something real never makes you naive, it just makes you honest

She dates, marries the wrong person, goes through fertility struggles, gets a dog named Elizabeth Taylor when she gets divorced—and still doesn’t let the world harden her, eventually finding the kind of love she always believed in

So let this be your sign—if Sex and the City hasn’t magically found you yet, watch it. You might just discover you’re a Charlotte, too.
