Ambition ran to the edge of the storm,
Stopped and looked back for the last time, wanting more.
Without hesitation, Ambition walked farther away,
Not owing forgiveness for the heartbreak she felt. There was no reason to stay.
Deceit stood firm in the eye of Hurricane Michael.
She continued to read her Bible,
Tell the town she was kind, but befriended Ambition to fill her spare time.
The almond safe haven was losing its shine.
When Hurricane Michael came blowing in,
Presenting Deceit’s greatest test. She gave in.
She failed, she changed, and the magic rotted away in her prison.
Friendships were convenient under deceiving conditions.
Deceit was temporarily content, pretending to have it all.
While Ambition was out of Deceits control,
But lost in the raging sea, treading the water, and close to drowning.
Off in the distance, a lighthouse was guiding.
Ambition swam stronger towards that island of tranquility.
She found the best possible life, befittingly.
She heard from the stars; they never saw her happier.
Ambition was grateful to the sun’s light for permitting.
Deceit grew a jealous rage, competing with happiness.
She settled for less, compromising on the answer yes.
She spread pungent lies.
And couldn’t stand, Ambition’s best life
Had no room for Deceit.
