Why Does It Hurt?

Why does it hurt so bad,

Whenever a loved one dies?

Is it because of the memories,

Forged in those untold stories?

Memories of the good bygone days,

Visiting beaches and sharing kisses?

Or times at the dining table,

Munching food with smiles on faces?

Why does it hurt so bad,

When a loved one is no more?

I notice that people usually become sad,

With mournful visages unseen before.

Is this what life really is,

Happy today and forlorn tomorrow?

Need I ask if this is really our home,

A home laden with undeserved pain and sorrow?

Why does it hurt so bad,

When a loved one is forever gone?

Is it because in the passing of the moment,

Everyone will be moved on?

Is this how it was meant to be,

For everyone to become sad?

Or there’s a special reason to it that,

When a loved one dies, it should hurt so bad?
