Poetry – Becoming Wind

My dwelling memories of so long ago seem like a mirage.

The images in my head are nothing more than a collage.

It seems we’ll never meet again in this world of a kaleidoscope.

You’ve flown so far away from me; I couldn’t see you even with a telescope.

People use each other while feelings become a masquerade.

We’ll never truly know one another while we sit turning jade.

Waiting for your firm answer my heart became your marionette.

I wanted so bad to keep you, not understanding the effect.

Each day I walked around building walls to guard my heart.

I hoped the world couldn’t see my seams soon would burst apart.

You flashed me that enigmatic smile but your provoking stakes were high.

You can’t concentrate on dancing through your dreams while you live a lie.

It was foolish to think we’d ever find a way.

You never saw much more than an innocent plain Jane.

I cried, died, and rose again to shine with coruscating light.

Now I choose to find a life with bigger dreams in sight.

I wasted vast amounts of time while your mind would always change.

The heartbreaks grew devastating each time you called me insane.

We might have been twin flames with a connection all too rare.

Now I know I am wind. All you are is air.
