10 Out of The Box Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

The good old holiday of love is fast approaching, and everyone loves to have things planned for them, so why not take a quick peek at some fun suggestions that you may not have thought about. From the non-traditional to some of the classics with a twist, here are ten unique Valentine’s Day date ideas.

1) Axe Throwing: If you’re a couple who likes to throw down, have a little bit of a wild side, and need to get some tension out, why not try a local axe-throwing place? It’s fun, gets a lot of good laughs, and by the middle of it, you’ll feel your inner Viking cutting loose.

2) Visit an Aquarium: Pretty blue lighting, majestic creatures swimming around you, and all of those nice private little alcoves for a stolen kiss…Why wouldn’t you want to have a romantic date at an aquarium? Bonus points for the amount of privacy you’ll most likely be getting too, since most people wouldn’t think to visit it for a date.

3) Book a couples massage: Need some time to unwind? Why not do it together? Low lighting, relaxing music, and calming aromatherapy while being worked on side-by-side sounds like a fairy tale. Some places even have add-on options like champagne and chocolates if you’re feeling a little bougie.

4) Visit a Rage Room: Now, this is not for the faint of heart. Rage rooms are not relaxing, but they can be therapeutic. Any unresolved tensions could certainly be smashed away with a bat and a safe space to mess up (instead of going at each other’s relationship). The high you’ll feel while smashing tiny, fragile objects into oblivion will make your body sing in the best way. You can thank me later.

5) Find a couple’s cooking class: This is for all of the foodie couples! Love sushi, but not always the drive to get there? How about those dainty French crepes? Or do you have an appetite for Italian homemade pasta? There are so many great cooking classes where you can have a drink and enjoy learning how to make something great for the two of you. Something about learning a new skill together really brings couples together.

6) The classic dinner and a movie: There’s something special about going with this oldie but goodie. There are always fun local food spots to eat and a good movie playing in a nearby theatre just waiting to be enjoyed. If you’re more of a homebody, this could also transcend into renting a movie from a streaming service and ordering takeout to your house. No matter your style, eating good food while snuggling up watching a movie is still elite.

7) Trade couple care packages: Now, this is a fun one. You both pick a day ahead of time where you go collect your partner’s favorite drinks, snacks, movie, and any other little comforting thing you know they like. This is an easy way to show how thoughtful you are and displays how much you listen to each other. Have fun, and may the odds ever be in your favor.

8) Find an Escape Room: Now, disclaimer on this one- ONLY DO THIS IF YOU REALLY LIKE EACH OTHER. This could be the one date that highlights the way you complement each other in your problem-solving skills, how you listen and work together, or completely divulge all of your relationship’s shortcomings while underlining some inner problems. Being able to figure things out together and unlocking new skills that neither might have known you had is pretty fun and interesting. Although potentially amusing, this also has the option of keeping you locked in a room and making you face each other’s bad sides. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

9) Go to a comedy club: There are very few things that are better than just laughing together. Comedy clubs are rare places where it’s okay to laugh at others’ expense and not have to feel guilty about it. Bonus points if you leave with your cheeks hurting.

10) Take a nighttime drive to the beach or park: Lastly, this one can be for any couple in any financial situation. Beaches and parks are free and a nice, usually private place for those long heartfelt talks while strolling in the moonlight. I’ve had some of the best talks of my life on these fun outings. There’s something special about the vulnerability you feel at night and being outdoors. It allows most people the comfort of taking some walls down and really being able to connect with someone.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list and get to try out some fun new experiences! Happy Valentine’s Day everybody!
