Identity Pursuit

Pearl grew up in a less privileged family with many children, old and young, who she thought were all her siblings. One silly day, she overheard people talking about how much they felt sorry for her because her real mother might be living a good and fancy life somewhere else.

Pearl was shocked to discover that she wasn’t in her real home or with her real mother and siblings. A series of questions circulated in her mind. Was she abandoned, or maybe she got lost as a baby? She had known this family ever since she could remember.

She lived in very troubled times because of unanswered questions. Nobody ever said anything about her real home. After hearing such news, she noticed a different hostile treatment that she hadn’t noted previously. She was made to do every hard labor alone, yet there were many girls.

At first, she thought it was because she was the oldest, but now she wonders when others are being taught, too. The treatment became tense as the years went by, and Pearl wanted to elope.

One day, she pretended to be going to the nearest shop, and that was how she eloped. She did not know where she was going, but she needed to escape her hostile life.

On her way, very tired and sweaty, Pearl got a lift from an unknown woman. The woman had many questions, and one of them led to Pearl’s grand reveal. The woman turned out to be Pearl’s biological mother. They both shared joy, and many emotions were expressed as they wept and hugged. Finally, Pearl found her true identity.
