She Continues To Believe In Fairytales

When Elle was a little girl, she loved reading fairytales, but once she turned twenty-five, she was afraid she wouldn’t meet her Prince Charming. It is said in most fairytales that a curse can be broken by a true love’s kiss, but how could that happen if no handsome men were ever kissing her? Elle had just finished college with a degree in creative writing because she had always loved writing ever since she was a little girl. When she turned eighteen before going off to college, she hoped she would find a cute guy in one of the classes she was taking to earn her degree, but sadly, the only guys she met in college were not really her type.

But finally, during her senior year of college, she met her best friend, Nick, who forever changed the way she thought about guys. Before she knew it, she was falling in love with him, but she was afraid of telling him how she really felt about him because he was already dating someone. Nick had dark brown hair, brown eyes, and a smile that could light up every room. He was one of the few people who ever made her laugh. Nick had been her best friend for the last three years, but she was always afraid of telling him how she felt about him. Elle didn’t know how to tell Nick that she was in love with him properly, but she thought that asking him to go out to dinner with her might be a great place to start.

Elle asked Nick if he wanted to go to their favorite pizza place with her, and of course, he said yes without any hesitation. After she walked her dog, Layla, Elle went home to get ready for her date later that evening. She was planning to wear her favorite light blue sweater, jeans, and Ugg boots because it was one of her favorite outfits for going out, as it was very comfortable. Before leaving, she grabbed a light green jacket out of her closet and headed out for a night on the town.

Later that night, Elle drove to Luigi’s Pizza to meet Nick for dinner. She was a little nervous about her date because she was worried that Nick wouldn’t have feelings for her. When Nick finally showed up, he was wearing a green sweater, jeans, and his favorite blue tennis shoes. His entire outfit looked great on him, and Elle loved how the green sweater brought out the color in his eyes. When the waiter came to take their order, they ended up ordering a pepperoni, sausage, and cheese pizza because it was the one they always ordered. After much contemplation and after eating way too many slices of pizza, Elle finally decided to tell Nick how she felt about him. She looked into his deep brown eyes, grabbed his hand, and told him that she had liked him for the last few years. He asked her what she loved the most about him, and all she could come up with was that he was handsome and that she thought he was really cute.

After watching Nick play in way too many soccer games, competing against her at debate competitions, and starring in their college production of The Music Man as Professor Harold Hill, she slowly fell more and more in love with him. After her and Nick finished eating their pizza, the two of them shared a slice of tiramisu and a scoop of vanilla gelato for dessert, and after they finished it, Nick leaned into her and kissed her lips.

The kiss was light and gentle, and it was exactly the type of kiss that she had always imagined she would receive from Nick. After he kissed her, she said, “Wow!” She couldn’t believe that Nick had finally kissed her, and she was so grateful that her very first kiss was with her best friend.

Before they said goodbye for the evening, they both shared one last kiss, and before they knew it, the night came to an end. Elle couldn’t have expected a more perfect end to their date, and she couldn’t believe that Nick felt the same way about her, too. Elle began to think that life was sure like a fairytale.

    Fairytales,
    a dream come real,
    yet wedded bliss
    escapes that deal.

    The truth of tales
    is the work we need,
    to make a marriage
    last, succeed!
