First of all, Lizzie McGuire had such an impact on my childhood; my fifth birthday party was Lizzie McGuire-themed in pre-K.
And this photo still hangs on the wall of my parents’ house.

A “back-to-school-esque photo” when I was about 7 and starting first grade. It was taken at the mall by an old photo company called “The Picture People.” I still gravitate to all things Hilary Duff / Lizzie McGuire. Back in 2021, I bought the Colourpop x Lizzie McGuire makeup collection & it’s still some of my favorite makeup I’ve ever purchased. Yesterday at Walmart, I bought the newest Lizzie collab by profusion, and I purchased the Luck… or Something Walmart deluxe CD with Hilary’s remade version of ” Come Clean ” and What Dreams Are Made of included. It wasn’t in store, which is what spawned the whole trip to begin with.
I am proud to say that I am finally going to see Hilary Duff in concert this summer at her Charlotte, NC, stop on the Luck or Something tour on August 1st. Thank you, Citi card presale. It was a whirlwind trying to score tickets, but I’m so beyond blessed that I did! I’ve been wanting to see her since her last tour, which was Circa 2005, around the time the photo above was taken.
My 28th birthday is later this month when you’re reading this article. I decided I’m already theming Lizzie McGuire, but more grown up.
2026 is definitely the year of Hilary Duff’s comeback, and I’m not mad about it! She is so meaningful and impactful in my life.
She has a song called “Growing up” on her new album, and it honestly gives me all the feels.
Growing up happens slowly, almost quietly, until one day you realize the things that once felt like childhood memories have become lifelong comforts. Lizzie McGuire was never just a show to me — she was a soundtrack to becoming. And as I step into another year of life, preparing to sing those same songs in a crowded concert venue, I’m reminded that girlhood doesn’t disappear; it evolves. In many ways, this moment feels less like nostalgia and more like coming home to the parts of myself that were always meant to stay.
I’m so grateful to grow up in a world with Hilary Duff
Getting to finally see her in person feels like what all my wildest dreams are made of — a quiet, surreal reminder that some childhood hopes never disappear, they simply wait for you to grow into them.
