Evidence That Life Is Actually Quite Nice

A gentle reminder: there is still plenty of good to be found.

A good room spray. A current fave is the Le Luxe Fresh Cotton Fabric Mist. Chef’s kiss.

When your partner does the thing, demonstrating they understand you. Buying your favorite snack at the right time, doing a chore when they can see that you’re tired, and randomly expressing how much you mean to them. Aw!

Drinking enough water. Embarrassed to admit that this is way more of a rarity than it should be. Thinking of getting the Air Up water bottle. If you have one, I’d love to know how you’re finding it!

Fresh bed sheets. I don’t think elaborating is necessary here.

Writing! The ability to get down an entire school of thought. Even before the editing process. Few things make me happier to be honest!

A good cuppa. I’ve mastered the perfect tea for me. The water-to-milk ratio, just the right amount of sugar, and my favorite mugs. It hits the sweet spot every time.

Looking at really good pictures of nature. Trees, flowers, sunsets, mountains – you name it. Bonus points if they’re seen in person (I’ve just been particularly enjoying pictures recently, as life has me at home a lot more than outdoors in this season).

Empty laundry basket(s). I recently bought a laundry basket with four compartments, saving me from having to sort colors before every wash. So now, “completing” (because is laundry ever really done?) the whole laundry debacle is that much more satisfying.

When the most creative, outlandish way to explain a concept to a student who didn’t get it the first time randomly comes to you, off the cuff. And the student gets it. Great feeling!

Receiving relevant emails. I don’t know if this is revealing my weirdness, but I love this!

Storage baskets. They make the place feel so much more put-together!

A good cinema trip. Watching The Drama with a hot dog and a Coke? A little slice of heaven.

Reed diffusers in every room! I’m big on smells – partly by necessity because I’m sooo annoyingly sensitive to the slightest bad odor. I’m actually on the lookout for great quality, longer-lasting diffusers. Any suggestions?

A random card from a student. A hearty catch-up with a long-distance friend. Those moments that remind you people care.

When God shows His love for you in the most unexpected ways. Getting specific advice you didn’t even know you needed. Coming across the most perfect scripture, the words breathing life and hope into you.

Life can be complex, but I think I need to do this more often. Being a deep thinker is a gift, but all that thinking can sometimes skew towards the negative. Every now and again, I need to deliberately remind myself of the good.

Cheers to that. Clink clink!
