Another Scranton October, another Halloween weekend.
Just like another La Festa and another Family Weekend and another…you get the idea.
I make my way to classes and internship advising meetings.
Down to the little campus I spent the past four years calling home.
The campus where once I was known by many.
Now known by none.
The same campus.
A different college.
The same faculty.
Different students.
I recognize my home.
But I am merely a ghost haunting its halls.
The same cafés I drank coffee in.
The barista’s now a stranger to me.
Students I once knew by name reduced to familiar faces.
This Halloween, I don’t need a costume.
Sure, I have one ready.
But I think I can go just as myself.
After all, a ghost in reality is a ghost in make-believe, too.
