The Silence I Once Knew

In my head

A thousand words flow,

Some speak with truth

Some laced with dread

And some are drenched in fear

In them I drown.

From all I write

My words are but a tapestry,

A shroud drenched in mystery

If all I do is write

Then where is my muse

A question for all who seek.

Some melodies are born

Some are lived,

My head is filled with thoughts

But in this distraction, we call earth

Where is my quiet

Where is the silence I once knew?

From afar I hear the call

The call to be a beacon,

But how far away have I turned

How far away is my soul from safety

How do I know when far away I can get.

In this heart

Beauty struggles with darkness,

I am mortal through and through

If my heart is cold, where do I stand

Human nature is no excuse for my wrong.
