I should not say farewell,
For saying farewell would seem,
Like departing and never returning.
So, darlings, when you see this boat roll away,
It’s not time yet to mourn.
So, mourn not; hold back your tears.
It’s an assurance that our paths,
Will cross again somehow, someday.
Perhaps at this shore,
Where you see this boat roll away,
Or somewhere, unfortunately, on foreign soil.
Or probably at the gates of eternal condemnation,
Or, if grace finds us, at a feast
In paradise again.
