Have you ever been in a situation where you felt you had absolutely no control over it? You felt as though nothing you did could fix the problem. You tried this way, no success. You tried that way, still no success. What do you do in that situation when you feel like you’re just going in circles to end up back at the same spot you started at? I’m here to tell you that the only way is to fully surrender. The definition of surrender is: to give up possession or control of something to another, usually under pressure, demand, or compulsion. So who are you surrendering to? In my case, it was to God, because there was no other entity in this universe that could help me.
I found myself feeling depressed, lost, and just stagnant in life because I was trying to figure out why I was being treated a certain way when I felt I was giving my all to another person, pouring my time, my energy, my heart into someone who couldn’t pour back. The fact of the matter is, I was pouring into the wrong person. I should’ve been pouring into God, who then would have poured into me and overfilled my cup, so to speak. If you have found yourself feeling as though you have lost control, here’s the truth:
You never had control.
It was free will. And that was God allowing you to have it your way, because you hadn’t yet given in to His will.
Do yourself a favor today: lay down all your issues and problems to God. Don’t hold back, and tell God that you just want Him to take over. Watch how your life will turn around for the better. Love yourself first and pour into yourself first so that you can love others and pour into them. You can’t pour from an empty cup. That’s what surrender really looks like. Be blessed.
