How I See The World Now

Growing up, we realize how frustrating it can get sometimes to deal with everything. While you are in high school, you gotta deal with school and its drama. And let’s be honest, school dramas are silly, but at that point it does seem like it’s a huge deal until you apply for college. The application process itself is stressful, and afterwards, when you go to college, you start seeing how the real world is. It will ask you to be present in every class, be good in everything, and attend every social event in order to be cool. You will already get frustrated with all the classes, and not to mention, if you are not on scholarship, the budget will stick in your head. The part-time jobs and settling your life together, especially if you study abroad, will make you miserable.

Some people are really good at handling things. I always wonder how they can handle so much pressure, managing everything yet having a social life as well. Because for me, I could never do that. I get frustrated under pressure, get overloaded, and end up getting a headache and messing everything up while submitting assignments and studying at the very last moment.

So, how can we fix that and have a life of our own while making the very best of university life (because hey, uni comes once in a lifetime!)? In this article, I have come across 5 basic and easiest steps that, with a little practice, can help us in managing our work, study, and academic as well as social life all at once. Btw, I did mention practice, so make sure to practice it until you are disciplined enough to repeat these till they turn into a habit.

1. Let Go Of The Past

I have put it in the No. 1 position for a reason. One of the biggest problems is that it’s hard to let go of the past. Whatever you have gone through in the past, you have to let it go. Wake up, start fresh in the morning. That’s a new day. It has nothing to do with your past. Remember that in life, you will go through a lot of situations which are hard to forget and will linger with us for a very long time. But the point is to observe it, learn from it, and move on. Perhaps it’s a lesson. Not the end. So just breathe and let it go. Life goes on, and after 5 days, no one will remember what you did last week.

2. Action Over Motivation

Now let’s be real, motivation is easy, but actually doing something and staying consistent with it requires discipline. Because discipline requires consistent boring work and showing up even when you are feeling like not to. If you have work to finish by today, do it. Delaying it only makes you delay in your own life. And remember, always prioritize your work over everything. Because it’s practically your job. Everything else can wait for tomorrow. The most important thing about people who look like they are good at balancing everything is that they are actually not; they just have a system, and work is their #1 priority. So, prioritize what’s important now.

3. Be Yourself

In college, you will find a lot of groups, a lot of people who seem cool, and you will want to get yourself involved in those groups. But cool isn’t necessarily what you should be looking for. They may be cool with all those fancy cards and parties they throw; you may want to get yourself engaged in that. But trust me, if you genuinely do not like it, and you are mixing with them just because you are afraid of being alone, do not do that. Being alone itself is a blessing. Because it requires you to do stuff you were afraid of doing before. Once you start prioritizing yourself and being yourself, you will realize them drifting away from you if they genuinely are not your friends. Because acquaintances will be a lot of people, but genuineness? You will get it only from a few people. Keep your circle close. Limit what you share and with whom, and do not seek mental comfort from people. They can use it against you. Rather, write it in a journal, reflect on it, and trust me, you will feel much better because you are not only writing, but also reflecting.

4. Move Your Body

Working out is one of the most important things you can do. Moving your body, going to the gym, or simply just taking a walk will clear your head. Not to mention, if you work out and stay consistent, it itself will improve your physical appearance. You will feel stronger and more confident. Your physical appearance itself can be a ticket to opportunities.

5. Say Yes to Every Opportunity

Opportunities are not really that hard to get. You just have to say yes to them. Most of the time, we feel like we are not ready for it. I will start tomorrow, or next time. But delaying it won’t make you perfect. It will only raise the fear. You learn on the way, not before.

Life is easy. It’s just the perspective that matters. You gotta see everything in an easy way. That’s it. I wish good luck on this journey, and remember, you can do anything!
